GPSR Compliance Update from Roll20

At Roll20, we’re committed to helping our partners and customers navigate the upcoming General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), which took effect in the EU on December 13, 2024. Digital content, such as eBooks, MP3 files, and VTT content, is not subject to the GPSR, as the regulation applies exclusively to tangible products intended for consumer use. This is supported by the GPSR’s legal definition of a product (Article 3, No. 1), which requires tangibility, and by legislative discussions that intentionally excluded purely digital content, as it is regulated under other frameworks like the Cyber Resilience Act.

To ensure compliance for physical products, our print-on-demand partner, Lightning Source, will provide the required safety information for all printed books. For more information click here: https://www.ingramcontent.com/pod-product-compliance. Additionally, we’re working closely with our card-printing partner to develop GPSR-compliant solutions for print-on-demand cards imported into the EU.

If you have any questions about the GPSR and how it applies to your products, our EU Representative is available to assist with any GPSR-related inquiries. Rest assured, Roll20 is actively managing these processes to ensure your products remain compliant with EU standards without disruption.
